INTEGRITY YOUTH MENTORING PROJECT.

ACOMREDE is a UK based registered charity promoting health, socio-economic and cultural development among local and surrounding borough communities.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality service geared towards promoting, protecting and developing the health, training and development needs of young people in the community.

Most of our projects in the UK are based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, but our service users also come from the neighbouring boroughs of Newham, Redbridge and Havering.

We aim to address these needs proactively through culturally appropriate services, which focus on enhancing human resource development, disease prevention, information exchange and cultural integration.

The aim of  ACOMREDE’s Integrity Youth Projects is, in part, to improve the lives of young people at risk of disillusionment, offending and social and vocational exclusion and those who have had a negative experience with the Criminal Justice System (CJS).

We aim to:

1. reduce the high levels of young people exposed to the CJS.

2. reduce the number of young people losing hope in life just to find solace in gangs and violent crime.

3. increase the number of young people having equal access to health, advice and rehabilitation services within Barking and Dagenham

4. mentor, train, provide Information, Advice and Guidance and organise diversionary activities for the young people..

The Team aims to work with the Youth Offending Team in achieving the above aims.

Connected Fund-Home Office

DITCH THE TRIGGER! is a project at Working with young people involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, gang activity. It involves youth workers/peer mentors going out into the community, including Barking Town centre and providing a gang out-reach programme. We targeted young people aged between 14 to 21 years who are at risk or are already involved in gang cultures and criminal lifestyles.

The project:

1. reduces the number of  young people involved in with Gun/knives  and violent crime activities, and makes them aware of alternative positive lifestyle options.

2. helps the young people identify and address the factors in their lives that place them at risk .

2. clearly exposes to young people how their involvement in Gun and Knife crime erodes their integrity and their quality of life.

3. de-glamorises Gun and Knife crime by identifying alternatives to a non violent life (“The bigger man walks away from violence”) and inculcates a sense of moral responsibility within themselves that will create benefits to the community in the borough.
